About Me and Volunteering

As many of you know, I have always wanted to do post-graduate service since I traveled to El Salvador with one of my classes at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, CA.

Much of why I want to volunteer can be best articulated in a poem I received before I left from El Salvador from my teacher, Mr. Howard.  It is as follows:

Needless to say, upon graduating from Villanova University in Pennsylvania this past May, I have been eagerly awaiting my turn to journey to Fall in Love with the people of Nicaragua, as I have with the ideas of social justice, Catholic Social Teaching, and my past service experiences in San Jose, El Salvador, South Carolina, Belize, Cambodia, New York, and Philadelphia. As the poem states, service has broken my heart, amazes me with joy and gratitude, and has decided everything–a life drawn to serve the poor and marginalized.
